Montevallo Mayor Dies
Funeral services were scheduled today for William McDaniel Wyatt, veteran mayor of Montevallo, who died Sunday at the age of 74.
Wyatt, mayor since 1948 was in his fifth term. He died at Shelby Memorial Hospital
A long-time newspaperman, Wyatt stated his career as editor of the Chilton County Union Banner in 1917. Leter he managed weekly papers in Fort Payne, Calera, and Montevallo. He was editor and publisher of the Shelby County Time Herald when he retired in 1960.
A native of Clanton, he was elected Chilton County's representative to the legislature in 1923. He had served as executive secretary of Alabama College.
