Age 92, died May 22, 2011 at home in Milan, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 12, 1919 in Claiborne Co., Tennessee, the daughter of Steward and Nanny (Sutton) Fultz.
On August 21, 1938 she married Glen Hurst in Claiborne County and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2002. Mrs. Hurst was a founding member of the Grape Missionary Baptist Church of Monroe and its women's fellowship known as "Heaven's Helpers". She also volunteered for Aid In Milan, Thursday's special needs program, was a member of the Milan Senior Center Quilting Club and the Homemakers Extension Club of Monroe County
She is survived by her 13 children; Stewart (Elouise) of Texas, Hollis (Lorraine) of Florida, Phillip (Teresa) of Glennie, Jerry (Linda) of Maybee, Archie (Barbara) of Adrian, Farris (Marcia) of Milan, Coney (Patricia) of Petersburg, Judy (Lee) Smith of Ridgeway, JoAnn (Steve) Wilcox of Dundee, Gwen (Michael) Donahue of Adrian, Mark (Patricia) of Colorado, Nancy at home and Cyle (Christina) of Glennie; 29 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Minnie Herrell of Indiana. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Byron, two grandsons, seven brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 where funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday with Pastor Bobby Smith of Grape Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
