ANOTHER SOLDIER IS CALLED
Death Ends Sufferings That Had Continued for Many Months
HAD LIVED WORTHY LIFE
Abraham S. Caproon, another old soldier who fought for his country during the long years of the Civil Wr and who was one of that rapidly diminishing body of men who are now answering the final summons half a century after the Rebellion because history passed away at his home 1201 South H street, at 11:45 o'clock last evening. The deceased while he had made his home in Elwood for only a short time, has spent the greater part of his life in this vicinity, and he has a large circle of friends throughout Elwood and Tipton county who will mourn his loss deeply.
The deceased was a native of Delaware, being born in that state 75 years ago. He came to Indiana when a young man and when the call came for men to enter the ranks of the Union soldiers and fight for the country, he was one of the first to offer himself. He entered as a private in the ranks of Co. G of the 26th regiment Indiana Volunteers and seraved throughout the war.
Long and Useful Life.
When peace was again declared he returned to his home in Tipton county and on Dec. 23, 1866, was married to Miss Watie Sharp. To this union 11 children were born. Five of these have died since then, and six, four daughters and 2 sons survive.
The deceased came here two years from Tipton county.......survived for so many years, and during his residence here had lived a retired life, his age and infirmities being such that he could be about but little. He belonged to the Grand Army post of Windfall, and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Nevada, being a christian man of a devout nature and all who knew him have only the most kindly words to say of the exemmplary life he had always led.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the home at 3 o'clock, and interment will follow in the city cemetery. (Elwood Call Leader, March 20, 1913)
