Richard, and probably Charles, are reported to be sons of Joel Watkins Haden. Richard's death certificate says his father is unknown.

It is quite likely most of these children are not Farmers since they were born before the 5 years she has been married. It also seems unlikely she was old enough to be the mother of all, or her age is wrong - trees given her birth year as 1875, which would make her about 13 when she had Charles. Roberta and all the children marked as "mulatto"

Note: this family does have a Richard of the right age and a brother Charles and daughter Josephine. All are listed with the Farmer last name. It is possible Roberta brought children to the marriage, but there's no way to tell and I find nothing re this family in 1900. There was a William Farmer in 1900 (before they would have been married) but the only name of the children that matches was family was possibly as Charles R.
