Son of Henry Hoskins and Ann Winthrop. Ann was the daughter of John Winthrop who was a brother of Adam Winthrop, father of Gov. John Winthrop.

Admitted as freeman of Plymouth Colony, 1 Jan 1634/5.

William Hoskins/Hoskine, was at Plymouth, married, as early as 1641
2 Mar 1641, "Ann Hinde the wife of William Hoskins, aged 25 years or therabout" testifited about events that had happened in the old country.

18 Jan 1643, William Hoskins agreed that his daughter Sarah should live with Thomas Whitney and wife until she was twenty - she was 6 years old, 16th of Sept, last past.

3 Jun 1662, William Hoskins of Plymouth received a land grant (one of several)

Served on a Grand Jury in 1654 and 1682, and the Petit Jury at least 23 times from 1646 to 1681.

6 Feb 1656 William Hoskins granted letters of administration on the estate of Nicholas "Hodgis" and then on the estate of Peter Riffe, March of 1684.

1 Mar 1661, "Ann the wife of William Hoskins for speaking ____ filthy language to Hester Ricard, fined twenty shillings"

2 Mar 1680. The court ordered that William Hoskins be paid 4#'s in regard of having lost all he had in the late war and being grown old and unable to labour. [This was following King Philip's War.]

The newer book,A Hoskins Family Record, by Edwin Ray Hoskins, 1963, p.7, states that William died 7 Sep 1695, over age 90 but gives no reference. He claims that Thomas, b. 1647 and Samuel, b. 1654 were children of a second unknown wife. Howver, The Great Migration article has no son Thomas, shows that Sarah was born of the first wife, and that Ann was the mother of at least the five children shown here and also possibly a John Hoskins whose wives were Elizabeth and Amee, and a Richard Hoskins who married 2 Aug 1686 Jane Fluster, in Taunton and by 1695 married Mary Tisdale.
