The more recent book, A Hoskins Family Record, by Edwin Ray Hoskins, 1963, states that "Samuel Hoskins was born 8 Aug 1654 in Taunton, died 2 April 1727. He married 1st, Abigail Stacey, and second, Mary Austin, and twice thereafter, his 3rd wedding occurring in 1692. Abigail was mother of their son, Samuel Jr. He was in the training band in 1682."

Mary was the daughter of Jonah and Esther Austin. Two deeds from Bristol County prove her parents. DB 18, p.76, which names her siblings and the husbands of her sisters, and DB 12, p. 122, 13 Jun 1719, which shows that Mary left only two Hoskins heirs.
"Samuel Hoskins of Taunton ...to my son William Hoskins and to my daughter Abigail wife of Joseph Eddy ...all land and rights in Taunton or elsewhere which anywise belonged to my deceased wife Mary who was daughter of Jonah Austin."
