The only child living with John Foard in 1850 was his married daughter Caroline - the early censuses suggest two sons. I found this person in Davie Co in 1850 living next door to John.

There is also a huge estate file, 107 pages, for John C. Foard of Rowan, deceased 1892 - found on FamilySearch.org. Knowing that the NC Archives often made errors in filing papers regarding men of the same name. I did look through this file, too, but found nothing else concerning his father.
John C. Foard died in Davie Co NC in Jun of 1892. leaving a will admitted to probate in both Davie and Rowan Counties, as a portion of his land is in Rowan. Jos. C. Irvin was executor. The outstanding debts were about $10,000, and the value of the personal estate of the deceased was about $500 applied to payment of funeral expenses.

Lands were: tract in Jerusalem Twp, Davie Co adj Frank Owens & others on north branch of the Yadkin River; stone of J. B. Foards & Shoafs corner on the public road - 506 2/3 acres and known as the Home Place.
Second tract in Jerusalem Twp, adj D. J. Tatum & others; Mocksville Road; 256 3/4 acres.
Third tract adj. lands of Jos Hendricks, Mrs. Shoaf, Frank Owens & J. B. Foard in Jerusalem Twp, about 14 acres.
Fourth tract in Franklin Twp, Rowan Co, begin at stake on South Yadkin River - pointers all stakes, no neighbors named - 302 3/4 acres.
Fifth tract: 1/2 interest in a tract in Franklin Twp, Rowan Co & also in Jerusalem Twp, Davie Co, adjoining the 4th tract and known as the Foard & Lindsey Mill Property - 9 acres.
Sixth tract: In Scotch-Irish Twp, Rowan Co, adj J. G. Flemming on the North, Wm Carson on the East, John Carson & Jesse ?Powlas on the South, J. D. Johnson & wife and Dr. D. B. Wood on the West - 121 acres known as the Neely Mill land and J. G. Flemming land.
Seventh tract: About 8 acres in Scotch-Irish Twp, part of the Kilpatrick lands adj J. S. Thompson, Hobsons heir's land and E. L. Johnson.
