"Arkansas Democrat Gazette" June 11, 2007
"STEPHENS - The family of Clyde and Dallice Wesson of Stephens,Ark., was blessed with another joyous occasion on Sept. 7, 1919 with the birth of their daughter, Mary Frances.
"Mary Frances was born into a pioneer family of Stephens, a city on the Cotton Belt railroad of which she was very proud. It was in this small-town atmosphere that Mary Frances grew up, graduating from high school, attending Magnolia A&M and making numerous friends for a lifetime. Mary Frances was a member of the Stephens Church of Christ and remained one of its most loyal and dedicated members for the remainder of her life. It was also here in Stephens that Mary Frances would meet and marry Harold Moore in 1942. They made Stephens their home and remained a devoted couple until his death in 1982.
"Throughout her life, Mary Frances was active in her community. She loved to play golf and play bridge. She was a member of the same bridge club for over 45 years. When she was not playing golf or bridge, she occupied her time beautifying her yard and flower garden. She loved to knit and taught many people the art of knitting. Those whom she taught remember her fondly as "The Knitting Lady." Her family remembers Mary Frances fondly. Her home was always open for visits from her nephews, and niece whospent weekends with her and visited on holidays. They always felt welcome and their visits were warm and filled with precious memories.
"Mary Frances lived her entire life in Stephens. In the span of 86 years, she had cultivated many endearing friendships. She loved people and people loved her. The achievement that she was the most proud of was being named the Senior Citizen of the Year in 2006 in Stephens, Ark.
"Mary Frances left her earthly home and entered her heavenly home on June 9, 2007. Her husband, her parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded her to her new home in heaven. Four nephews, Bill Wesson and his wife Jane of Kingsway, Texas, Eddie Wesson and his wife Elsie of Palestine, Texas, John Wesson and his wife Donna of Greenville, S.C., John Moore and his wife Linda from Stephens, Ark.; and one niece, Linda Fordyce and her husband John of Little Rock, Ark., survive her. She is also survived by a host of great and great, great-nephews and nieces along with many, many, friends.
"The family would life to thank hospice and the dedicated care of Janet Pelt, and to the loving caretakers, Genia Chaffin, Brenda Davis, Flora Jane McClurkin, and Caroline Morris. For their love, care, and concern for Mary Frances in making her last days more comfortable and peaceful we are eternally grateful.
"Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Third Street Church of Christ in Stephens, Ark., with Leon Watson and Jerry Arrington officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., in Magnolia, Ark. Family visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
