Charles Y. Proctor

(Abt 1805 - 1828)

That Charles was a son of John is proved by the estate settlement. He left a widow, who seems to be Margaret, and perhaps a young daughter. John had married Eleanor in Jessamine Co in 1804 - Charles was surely the first born to have left a wife and child in 1828.

Margaret Proctor is likely the younger of the ladies in the household with an older family member - perhaps a grandmother living with her.

Margaret Proctor had bought a mare at the sale of Charles Y. Proctor. Logan Co Tax list of 1835 & 1836 shows Margaret Proctor with 1 horse. In 1837, cattle began to be counted and she had 3 head. In 1838, Margaret had the three cows, and now had two horses, but in 1839, only one horse was counted. She was never taxed on property. [Tax records not read past that year.]
