Civil War Pension Application, Jno. F. Haden of Smith Co, Tyler P.O., Texas. Filed 18 Dec 1913, approved 1 Dec 1913; Pension allowed from 1 Mar 1914.
Stated he was paroled at Gainesville, AL on 12 May 1865. He was age 67, born in Mississippi; had lived in Smith County, Texas for 42 years. His physical condition was fair. He served from Mississippi: enlisted 2 Aug 1862 and served until 12 May 1865, in Company G, 4th MS Cavalry. His property assesses for $850. Dated 15 Dec 1913.
W. H. Day and F. M. Boyd appeared as witnesses before Jesse F. Odom, Smith County Judge. They personally knew Haden and that he was a resident.
W. W. Gant and F. F. Long also appeared before the Judge. Gant was age 69 and had served in the same company - Co. G. 4th Miss. Reg., Mabry's Brigade, 4th Division of Cavalry. Haden was a good soldier and did not desert. F. F. Long also served in the same company.
