He was a Hardware Dealer. Also living with the family were boarders, W. J. Harris, b. Jan 1879, Messeger at Grocery House, and his wife Bettie, b. Apr 1883.

1910 Census. Marshall Co OK, Madill Town. Living on 2nd Avenue. John G. Russell, age 55, married 30 years. Born TX, both parents b. Arkansas. An agent in a dry goods store. Rebeccah, wife is age 54, born in Arkansas. Father b. NC, mother b. VA. She is teaching reading. Junius G., son, age 13 is the only child at home.

1920 Census, Marshall Co OK, Madill Town, ED 163, p.8, dwelling 161. Adress: Second Avenue. John G. Russell, age 64, born in TX; his father born in AR, his mother born in Illinois. A saleman in Retail Dry Goods. Wife Rebecca S., age 62, b. AR, father born in NC and mother born VA. Son Junius G. was still at home at age 23. He was working as a Salesman in Men's Clothing. Junius was born in Texas before the family moved to Oklahoma
