It would seem that Vincent had an earlier marriage. Alabama Marriage Collection on Ancestry has a marriage, Shelby County for V. J. Gragg to Sid Watley, 7 Mar 1847. They were married by W. D. Bowden, Justice of the Peace. Note: her name was Elizabeth Watley - not sure how that was read as "Sid".
