MELICENT EAMES

(1615 - 9 Feb 1695/96)

Millicent was the daughter of Anthony Eames. There is apparently no direct evidence, but Alice Sprague, sister of William, Ralph & Richard, the immigrants, had married at Fordington St. George, a Richard Eames. Several children of an Anthony Eames were baptized at Fordington St. George although they do not include a Millicent. Anthony Eames was the son of Thomas & Millicent Eames. The marriage of William Sprague & Millicent took place not long after Anthony Eames arrived in New England and settled at Charlestown. Anthony Eames and William Sprague moved from Charleston to Hingham about the same time and William & Millicent named their first son Anthony.

3 Apr 1635, she was admitted to the Charlestown church. She died at Hingham on 9 Feb 1695/6.
They had ten children: Anthony, John, Samuel, Jonathan, Persis Doggett, Joanna Church, Jonathan, William, Mary King, Hannah.

Find A Grave contributor Lawrence H. Grunert adds: Millicent's b. date of 1615 and b. in Fordingham, Dorset, England. Her parents are Anthony Eames and Marjorie Pierce-Eames.
