Elijah H. Parrish, 95, Died Tuesday A.M.
Elijah Hillman Parrish, age 95, died at the home of Dr. W. L. Parrish Tuesday morning. Services were held at Concord Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. G. Williams and Dr. S. J. Ezell. Spigener was in charge.
Surviving are three sons - Sam Parrish of Marbury, Prof. John M. and Dr. W. L. Parrish of Clanton. There is one foster daughter, Mrs. Lettie Dupree Gafford, of Birmingham; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Mims of Clanton and Mrs. Hale Robinson of Providence.
Born near what is now Clanton, January 21, 1849, Uncle Lige Parrish was probably the oldest person in the county. He has spent his entire life in this immediate vicinity, being well known, and during his active life was identified with Christian work and all things looking to the welfare of the county and community. He has been confined to his home for the past year or more.
