Silas Tiffany

Seth died in an army hospital at Oswegatche, Wyoming Valley, PA. He was unmarried. He enlisted in two expeditions of the French & Indian War - Crown Point and Wyoming Valley. In anticipation of leaving for Crown Point, 1757, he wrote a will leaving his property to his brother Nathan and personal property to his beloved sisters - Sarah, Abigail, Anna, Hepzibah, Keturah, Lucy, and Temperance. At the time of his death, Silas was a corporal in the 9th Co. of the 4th CT Regiment, under Capt. Zebulon Butler of Lyme. His probate papers include the information about an illegitimate daughter of Helen Cleland; Helen claimed Silas was the only father of the child.
