Mary Haden Lindley
(May 1794 - 15 Jun 1879)
The birth of Mary Haden Lindley is South Carolina is somewhat curious, unless her parents left Rowan Co NC, moving first to South Carolina and then perhaps to Tennessee and on to Texas. The only indication that Mary Haden is a granddaughter of William Haden of Rowan Co is her name. There is definite confusion over her mother Molly Haden's marriage. I consider this relationship unproved.

I saw on some Kuykendall website, don't remember which about Nancy Kuykendall, daughter of Abraham H. Kuykendall and Mary Haden Lindley. Nancy married Benjamin F. Stracener who is my great, great, grandfather. He is one of the sons of Henry Stracener and Susannah A. Knight. There was a comment that their burial place was not known. Nancy and Benjamin are buried in Barbee Cemetery in Erath County, near Dublin, Texas. They died in 1862 and though the true cause is not known they and three children died within a month or so of one another. Possibly measles epidemic as it was going thorugh Texas then, but we will never know. I am not certain, but I believe Mary Haden Lindley is buried there as well. One of their sons, William Henry was my great grandfather and had as one of his sons, my grandfather, George Rufus Stracener. These are also in Barbee Cemetery along with several other Straceners. Hope this helps.

Following are the families of Jacob & Abner Kuykendall. Jacob was age 20-30 and had another male in his household, age 15-20, a female under 5, and a female age 20-30. Abner had two males age 20-30, a female age 15-20.
On another page in Hardeman Co was a younger Matthew Kuykendall: 2m under 5, 1m 20-30. 1f 20-30.
In 1840, a Matthew Kykindall was living in District 1, Jackson Co, TN - he was age 30-40. On the same page was a widow, Jane Kykindall, age 60-70. I have no clue if this is the same family.
I did not find Abraham Kuykendall in 1840.. It does seem that the family was in Texas prior to the 1840 census and Texas was not part of the U.S. quite yet in 1840.
