Mrs. Minerva Catherine (Mittie) Fry lived on Jackson Ave., Ladonia. She had lived in Ladonia for 75 years. Mittie died 3 Nov 1934. She was the widow of F. E. Fry. Born 4 Oct 1852, she was age 82 years, 29 days. She died of chronic colitis and age. Her father was James Eastman, born Ohio; mother Mary Hunter, born in Alabama. The informant was her son Ivan B. Fry. She was buried in Ladonia.

Death Comes for Mrs. F. E. Fry
Mrs. F. E. Fry, one of Ladonia's earliest and best-known pioneer women, passed away at her home here Saturday morning at 3:30 o'clock following an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Baptist church by the pastor, Rev. C. W. Shaw, and the remains were laid to rest beneath a bank of flowers in the Ladonia cemetery, beside the body of her husband, who preceded her in death Sept 27, 1921, and that of her little granddaughter, Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Fry, who passed away in 1927.
Mrs. Fry was unusually energetic and active in the affairs of the community, and enjoyed fairly good health up until the past few months. On October 4, this year, she took part in a celebration of her 82nd birthday at the home of her son here. On the same occasion last year she helped prepare and serve her birthday dinner in her own home.
The following account of her life is taken from her memoirs, written in her own hand about six months before her death:
Mrs. Mittie Eastman Fry was born in the year 1852 in Summerville, Ala., coming to Texas with her parents when she was 2 1/2 years old. The family made the trip in a covered wagon and carriage, settling first near Clarksville. Later in the same year they came to Fannin County and bought land four miles north of Ladonia where they lived until 1869 when they moved to Ladonia to send the children to school. Mrs. Fry was one of a family of ten children, two of whom died in infancy, and only one of whom now survives. In the year 1871 she was converted and joined the Baptist church in Ladonia, and ever afterward tried to live a consistent Christian life. She was married in 1884 to F. E. Fry, a member of a family which has played a prominent part in the growth and development of the town and community. To them were born three sons, Lucian and Ivan, now well-known business men of Ladonia, and Liston, also in business in Como, Texas. Besides her sons, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. S. C. Relyea of Dallas, widow of the late Dr. Relyea, leading Ladonia physician for many years, three grandchildren, Ben Ed, Mary Jane, and Albert Ivan, and a number of other relatives.
Her death brings a great loss, not only to the family and host of friends, but to the entire town and community.
