Leonard Patteson

( - 1782)

Leonard is said to have left Buckingham about 1766 - he married a woman from New York. Leonard died circa 1782, leaving five children. The widow petitioned the Virginia Legislature from Wilmington, NC, asking that she be allowed to sell her interest in Mt. Pleasant. The land was bought by Leonard's brother David. The widow referred to her husband Leonard Patteson, as a British subject, late of St. Augustine in the Province of East Florida. Apparently he was a Tory during the Revolution.
