Sarah Mitchell may have been a widow with a daughter as Grief Perkins provides for the welfare of Elizabeth C. Mitchell in his will. Sarah apparently deceased by April of 1831 when Grief Perkins wrote his will.

From Goochland County Deed Book 24, p.273: On May 15, 1820, signed power of attorney to his nephew John Perkins: "I, Grief Perkins, of Goochland Co., in Va., intending shortly to go to the western country". Moved to Logan County, KY.
Logan County Court Records, 4 Jul 1825, p.177 - Grief Perkins produced his commission and certificate of qualification as a justice of the peace for Logan County which was ordered to be herewith filed.
In 1829, Grief lists 3 children between 4 and 15 on the Tax Rolls for Logan Co. He must have had others than those listed here.
James Perkins, nephew, was executor for estate; also for Isaac O. Perkins and A. G. Hopson as Grief Perkins had been their executor. Settlements in 1841 recorded according to Court Orders.

Grief Perkins: 1m age 50-60. 1f under 5, 1f 20-30, 1f 30-40. He also had 13 slaves.
Will dated 4 Apr 1831. Lucy E. and Isaac O. Perkins, dau & son are to be cared for from profit of estate. Elizabeth C. Michell, no relationship stated [possibly a stepdaughter?], to be boarded out and slave David to be hired out for her support. Executors: James Perkins, Robert B. Herndon, Drury W. Poor. Wit: M. B. Morton, Robt B. Herndon, John J. Mackall. Probate 1 Jul 1833.
As late as 15 Oct of 1831, Grief Perkins was still living as he witnessed the Will of Elizabeth Hodges on that date.
