William Perkins

Married the widow of Thomas Massie. Surety: Benjamin Mitchell. Wit: Valentine Wood. Marriage bond dated 23 Feb 1756.
Douglas: Will Perkins, in New Kent & Susannah Massie, widow in this parish.

William and Susannah lived in Goochland Co VA; the first four children baptized at St. James Northam Church. On 26 Oct 1761 Gideon Moss deeded 200 acres to William Perkins. It had been part of 500 acres granted to Thomas Massie, dec'd [Susannah's first husband] and since vested in Gideon Moss.
The family moved to Henry Co Virginia soon after 1765. On 10 Apr 1781, William patented 492 acros of Poular Camp Creek adjacent Charles Thomas VA Patent Book D, p.928. He paid personal taxes 1782-1790 and real estate taxes on the 492 acres the same years. This parcel became part of new Patrick Co VA in 1791, where William Perkins can be found on the tax rools from 1791 through 1813. After his death the land was sold to Pleasant Thomas.

William wrote his will on 12 Feb 1831, naming sons Christian, Thomas, William & David, and daughters Sarah Reynolds, Susannah, Elizabeth, Nanney [Nancy Boyd] and Mary Ann Moss. Executors were John Hall & Samuel Houston.
