p.4 - Social and Personal
Mr. and Mrs. Dibrell L. DuVal of Fort Smith, announce the marriage of their daughter, Angela Medora, to Graydon Comstock of Van Buren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenney M. Comstock of Fayetteville, formerly of Van Buren. The wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents and was attended only by relatives. Mrs. Comstock is the granddaughter of the late Dr. E. L. DuVal of Fort Smith and Dr. P. E. Hooper of Little Rock. Mr. Comstock is a member of a prominent Crawford county family. He formerly was associated with the First National Bank of Van Buren and has been attending the University of Arkansas. Mr. and Mrs. DuVal (sic - should have been Comstock!) will reside in Fort Smith, where he is with the Fort Smith Seed Company.
Graydon had a brief early marriage. Her given name appeared to be Medsie in 1930. In 1930 they had apparently just married and were living in Fort Smith in a rented apartment on N 6th Street. He gave his age as 21; she was 17. He was working as a salesman for a seed company. My mother remembered the marriage after I found the census record - said the girl married him thinking he was rich but left him soon after. For some time I did not publish this marriage, not knowing if his children were even aware of it.
In 2011, this relationship could be found on the Internet in other databases, so not so private anymore.
