1820 Census. Darlington, SC. there were two men named James Mims. The first seems to be missing the patriarch, but the number and ages of children seems more likely.. Neither one is the son of James G. Mims who was born in 1805 - he could be in either household. Perhaps James G. Mims had a cousin or older nephew living in the area.

James and Feraby gave 1 acre of land where Walnut Creek church now stands to the trustees of the church ...trustees shall cause to be built a house of worship for use of the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South of the United States of America" for $5. The land was located at SE 1/4 SE 1/4 Section 30 Twp 22 Range15. Recorded in 1859.

Narrative from family tree on Ancestry.com:
James G. Mims was born about 1774 in South Carolina. About 1797, he married Fereba Reynolds. They had a family of about 10 children born in Darlington County, South Carolina. James and his family appear in the Darlington County, South Carolina census records for 1800, 1810, and 1820. The Mims family migrated to Alabama about 1828 along with other Darlington County families including the Baker, and Headley families.The 1830, 1840, and 1850 census records for Autauga County, Alabama show James and Fereba Mims listed .
In December 1847, James and “Feraby” sold (“gave”) 1 acre of land for $5, "where Walnut Creek church now stands to the trustees of the church" so that the "trustees shall cause to be built a house of worship for use of the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South of the United States of America". The "donated" land was specifically shown as SE ¼, SE ¼, Section 30, Township 22, Range 15. The deed was finally recorded in 1859 after James’ death. Deed Book DH, page 580
James died 01 Nov 1854. There is a record of an appraisal of his estate in 1854.
In August 1856, his son Abraham Mims submitted an accounting of the James G Mims estate to the Autauga County, Alabama court. The Autauga County, Alabama court record, partially transcribed below, lists the names of widow, “Feraba” and all of the living children as well as some of James' and Fereba’s grandchildren:
“The State of Alabama and Autauga County: Abraham Mims Administrator being first duly sworn deposeth and saith that the foregoing report and final settlement of the estate of James G. Mims decd [deceased] is just correct to the best of his knowledge and belief and that the heirs entitled to distribution of said estate are Feraby Mims widow of said deceased & Abraham Mims admr, George Mims, Winnyford Headly, wife of Charles Headly, James R Mims, Elijah Mims, Feraby Robinson, wife of Wm F. Robinson, Elizabeth Kicker, wife of James T. Kicker, Mary Motes, wife of James Motes, and Thomas Welden, Martha Littleton, wife of [blank] Littleton, John Welden, Catharine Welden, [blank] Welden, [blank] Welden, [blank] Welden, [blank] Mims, children of of Sarah Welden deceased who was the daughter of said decd.”

James and Feraba are buried without markers, most probably at Walnut Creek Methodist Church in what is now Chilton County, Alabama where several family members are buried.
