Sarah Jane Dixon

(1842 - Bef 1870)

There would be a later Sarah "Sallie" born about 1861. Either way, I think it likely this Sarah had died as a young woman.

There was a John Rickets, age 18, living with what appears to be a household of siblings - Andrew, age 20, was head of household, Greene Co, MO, just a couple of households from Susannah Ricketts Johnson and her soon-to-be second husband John Dixon.

1860 Census, Porter Twp, Christian Co MO, Hh 295
John Rickets, age 25, b. TN
Sarah, age 18, b. MO
Rolent, 1, b. MO [Roland? Robert?]

I have also seen that the Becky [Rebecca] Ricketts, age 10, living with John Dixon & Marietta Haden Dixon in 1870, was a child of John & Sarah Dixon Ricketts. If she's correctly identified, then perhaps her mother died in childbirth, making it desirable for her father to name his next daughter, Sarah, as well.

Rebecca is said to have married Henry Cader Brent and I did find this in the 1900 census, Justice Precinct 1, Fannin Co TX, Hh 173
Henry C. Brent, b. Oct 1857, age 42, married 22 years, b. TX, parents b. TX
Rickets, wife, b. Apr 1860, age 40, 8 children, b. MO, parents b. MO
Claude, son, b. Dec 1882, 17. George B., son, b. Aug 1884, age 15. William L., son, b. Sept 1886, age 13. Edward P., b. Dec. 1888, age 11. Lucretia, dau, b. Sep 1891, age 8. Bernice, dau, b. Nov 1894, age 5. Hope J. dau, b. Nov. 1896, age 3
Sally P. Wall, boarder, b. Jan 1883, age 17, b. TX

Then discovery of Rebecca's death certificate on FamilySearch brought together proof of the connections. Rebecca Ann Brent, of 605 Beach St., Bonham, Fannin Co, TX, died
24 Mar 1942. She had lived at that address for the past 23 years. She was married and was born 30 Apr 1861, Springfield, MO. She died of mycardial degeneration complicated by pneumonia. Her father was John Ricketts, born Missouri; her mother Sarah Ann Dixon, also born Missouri. Mrs. Oscar Hackley was the informant and she was buried Willow Wild Cemetery.

Another John Rickets:
John Rickets has also been identified as married to a very different Sarah. Quite possibly as a result of "shaking leaves" on Ancestry.
A John Rickets married 17 Oct 1854, in Maury Co TN to Sarah J. Pugh. Digital image on Ancestry - this is NOT the same John Rickets.

but also in 1860, Perry Co TN Hh 394 is:
John Ricketts, age 27. Jane 22. Thomas 3 and George 1. All born in Tennessee. This would seem to be a much likelier candidate for the John who married Sarah J. Pugh.
or this one:
1880 Census, Lawrence Co, TN
John Rickets, age 50 [indexed as 56]. Born, TN, father & mother b. NC
Sarah J. 43, b. TN, parents b. TN
John W. 18. Jeff D. 15. Wm. R. 12, James R. 7. Lusna 4, [female - Luisa?], and a 7 months old daughter, b. Dec 1879, who has been given no name.

I looked back in Tennessee to see if could locate a John Ricketts or Sarah Pugh, and in Maury Co, in the household of Robt. Watson, was a young John Rickett, age 14, b. TN. Also living in Maury was a much older couple - Samuel & Ellender Ricketts, born in North Carolina. I did not find a good candidate for a Sarah J. Pugh.
