(Ca 1739 - 1804)

Believed to be the John Mims who married Mary Moss, 8 Oct 1761, Goochland Co, VA.

From The Mims Families of Edgefield, Addresses & papers delivered at the annual meeting of the Edgefield Co Historical Society, 29 Jun 1951, found in Library of the SC Genealogical Society, Charleston, was an article "John Mims and His Descendants" by Miss Helen Wallace Mims.
Miss Moss suggests that John had gone back to Goochland from NC and then settled in North Carolina until the early 1770's when he and his first cousin, Drury, moved to 96 District in SC - the part that became Edgefield County. A plat of 1810 is said to show they lived on adjoining plantations. John served in the Revolution. He is said to have married a second time after 1800, to the widow Mrs. Elizabeth Howard, but had no children by her.
John's children were:
Talton, his only son, born about 1765.
Judith who married Benjamin Mock
Mary who married William Nibbs, 1806.
