Tilghman said appointed Captain in the Militia on August 8, 1808 at Fayette County, KY

1820 Tax list from Logan County, KY Census & Tax Lists, 1820 & 1830, by Don Simmons & Laura Willis, 1995:
Tilghman Offult (sic): 1 white male over 21, 2 slaves over 16, 6 slaves total, 12 horses, 314 acres, presumably on Red River as it follows another in that location and probably was in the same place as has been followed in this publication.
Also on the 1820 list was an Otho with 1 white male over 21 and 180 acres - surely Tilghman's son
and
James Offult, 2 white males over 21, 6 slaves over 16, 12 slaves total, 7 horses, 400 acres on Little Whipporwill

"Este" Offutt: 1 white male over 21, 2 slaves, 4 horses, 103 acres
"Atlas" Offutt: 1 white male over 21, 1 horse
James Offutt: 1 white male over 21, 6 slaves over 16, 12 total, 11 horses, 200 acres on Montg. Pond, and 434 acres, presumably in the same place
"Telphonon" Offutt - Tilghman! - had one white male over 21, 2 slaves over 16, 33 slaves total (taxed for slaves of his wards), 800 acres on Red River
He was guardian for Arnold children: D. H. Arnold - 223 acres, John Arnold - 60 acres, Polly Arnold - 110 acres, Younger Arnold - 85 acres, Wiet E. Arnold - 35 acres

There were probably eight children.

1 Nov 1856. Susannah/Susan offutt, wife - all household & kitchen furniture, choice of wagons except the big wagon, livestock, the bull, six work horses and gear, 700 acres, 10 slaves but not to separate mothers and children, 1/3 of dividends from bank stock and interest.
To Othias and Theodore, nothing more than already given.
To Felix, G., son, lands and Negroes already given him but they are not subject to his debt, but to pass on to the children. Large sums have been advanced to him
To Ann McCarty/McCarley to have 311 acres, and small parce to square her land that lines up that of William McCarty, 50 acres of timpber land from Meyors, another 80 acres
To Joseph, son, 115 acres on Tarapin Creek, adj land of Joseph Offuctt and Beard
To Amanda Townsend, dau, 304 acres, survey by C. A. Wilson
To children of my deceased daughter Eleanor McCarty, 315 acres on Tarapin Creek adj lands of Thomas Beard and Joseph Offutt.
Cedar Knob to be held for timber for use of children except Othias, Felix G. & Theodore
No sale of bank stock until the youngest son of deceased daughter, Elizabeth Haden, is age 21.
The 700 acres devised to wife to be sold at her death and divided among three grandsons - the sons of Elizabeth Haden. Should William Haden prove to be a permanent cripple, he is to get half, the other two to divide the remaining half.
Ann McArty, dau, 1/2 of bank stock cash, cash notes, personal property
To Joseph, son equal share of same.
To children of daughter Elanor McCarty, jointly one portion
To Amanda Townsend, dau, one portion.
Slave Elijah is in possession of son Joseph. Alfred is in possession of dau Eleanor. Lydia and her two children in possession of dau Amanda.
Before the slaves are divided, E. Haden, dau, gets two slaves as the ones given the children of Ellen (Eleanor) McCarty. Ann McCarley gets 2 share of slaves with increase, including the slaves deemed to wife after wife dies. Children of daughter Ellen get one share; dau Amanda Townsend, one share; Joseph Offutt, one share; children of dau Elizabeth Haden, jointly, on share.
The property for the Haden children is not to be in the hands of their father, Thomas Haden.
[Note: Thomas was Thomas Hayden, a descendant of the Spotsylvania Co Haydon/Hayden family - not part of the large family of William Haden who died about 1819 in Logan Co KY]
Guardians of children of E. Haden to be Joseph Offutt, son and William McCarly, son-in-law.
Codicil, 13 Feb 1858, changed some of the land bequesnts

Codicil #3 - woman Jinsey and children to stay with wife as long as she keeps the Haden children and Negroes not to be divided until the youngest, William O. Haden, becomes of age.
Codicil #4, 27 Aug 1861. Jackson Williams, married to granddaughter, daughter of John McCarly to have no control over the Negroes which may go to the children of my deceased daughter, Eleanor McCarly. Tilman McCarly, son of John, to have boy Alfred.
There is a note that McCarley is the the correct surname although written in several different forms.
