Richard Dennis

1733. Richard sold land in Bermuda Hundred that had belonged to his father to Richard Royall. In the same year he sold 500 acres to Thomas Branch, tract originally granted to Abel Gower.

3 Sep 1736. Richard and wife, Dearest, sold 101 acres on Sheffield Swamp to trustees of Henry Vanderhood.

13 Oct 1736. Patent to Richard Gower for 340 acres on Cellar Creek, Amelia Co.
1737. Richard paid tax on 5 tithables in Ameliz Co.
Richard added 400 neighboring acres, 20 Sep 1745 and another 361 acres, 25 Jul 1749 [234 acres of this last tract had been the property of Francis West.
1746. Richard sold half of the 400 tract to his son, Gower.

21 Feb 1745/46. Richard and Dearest sold 400 acres on Cellar Fork of Deep Creek to Thomas Williams and 140 acres to Charles Westbrook.
12 Feb 1747/8 Richard bought 100 acres on Cellar Fork from his nephew, Richard Hayes.
10 Jun 1752. Richard patented another 200 acres, on the lower side of Cellar Creek.
22 Feb 1758. Richard bought back the 140 acres he had sold to Wetbrook.
1770. Philemon Russell deeded 406 acres to Richard Dennis, tract on both sides of Stoney Creek in Lunenburg.

3 May 1775. Will of Richard Dennis, Amelia Co, names 3 sons, 3 daughters. His wife, Dearest Dennis left a will dated 21 Apr 1780, proved 23 May 1782.
