Prudence Stockton

(26 Jan 1792 - )

Prudence apparently gave some of her children to her sister Catherine to raise. The divorce case of Catherine Bishop vs. Lowry Bishop refers to children that Catherine & Lowry had raised that belonged to a sister - a nephew and two nieces. These children had been obtained at age 9 months, 3 months, and the last at about one week when her mother died. Catherine had raised these children as her own. In the deposition of Edmund Duff he mentioned the children that Catherine & Lowry Bishop "claimed of James Hall".

The Will of Catherine's only son, Benjamin Haden, written when he was just about 21 years of age, left his property to Amanda Hall, and if she did not survive to Lowry Hall, Catherine Hall & Prudence Hall. I can only think these last three were likely his "adopted" siblings and his first cousins. Amanda may very well have been their older sister.
