A deed filed in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, DB 12, p. 427, reveals a son named Daniel: "Indenture 8 Dec 1801 between Spilsby Coleman of Caswell to Daniel Coleman of Pittsylvania for the natural love and affection that I have for my son Daniel Coleman and also in consideration of £50 of good and lawful money"...tract on the southside of Dan River...200 acres "part of land I bought of Joseph Lumpkin and James Payne." "Also land purchased of Robert Lumpkin on Jackson's Creek, along with 10 Negroes ((1) York (2) Lucy (3) Flurnor (4) Peter, son of Lucy (5) Sarah (6) Jesse (7) Jinney (8) Lyddy (9) Esop and (10) Hannah."
