Individual Details
William Stamps
(Abt 1660 - )
William Stamps, our ancestor, is probably the same William Stamps for whom Thomas Stamp received a headright on Feb. 24, 1638; and for whom Edward Roe received a headright on May 27, 1664 in Gloucester County. There is a possibility that William's full name was James William Stamps. Several months before Edward Roe received his headright, a James Stampe sailed from the Port of Bristol, destination Virginia.1
William married Margaret Roe, a sister, or daughter, of Edward Roe.<
On July 02, 1668, William Stamps obtained a land patent for 480 acres in Westmoreland Co., VA. It is not known when he died. The name of only one child is known, Timothy Stamps.
