Patsy married Austin Truelove, Mar. 1826. Several of her descendants submitted their applications as Eastern Cherokees; all were rejected.

By 1850, both Austin and Martha Poindexter Truelove had died. I found three of their children in the household of John G. Poindexter, age 71, in Surry Co NC; he was their grandfather
John G's wife was Sarah, age 70. Living with them were:
Elizabeth C. M. C., age 46 [presumably Poindexter, daughter who never married]
Sarah E. Trulove, age 20. Martha C. Trulove, age 16. John G. Trulove, age 18.


Patsy & Austin's children were:
Sarah E., b. 1830, married Abner P. Smitherman
John J., b. 1832, died during the Civil War, married Florina A. Butner [his children and grandchildren all give his name as John G. in their applications to the Dawes Commission; so does the 1850 census]
Martha M., married 1856 to Bennett Martin. He was killed at Jericho Mills during the Civil War, 1864. [he was said to be age 19 at enlistment; there is a problem with dates]
William F. "Frank", married Lucy Newsome

Several of the children and grandchildren applied to the Dawes Commission for enrollment as Cherokee.

William F. "Frank" Truelove was a son of Martha & Austin Truelove. He married Lucy Newsome and had a son, John L. Truelove. John applied to the Dawes Commission, 24 Aug 1896, at East Bend, Yadkin Co, NC. He also listed his children, Thomas W., John H., Maggie [Margaret] E., Lela J., Frank E., Nevada, Archie G. and May Truelove. [The Poindexter book lists only the first three]

Mattie E. Patterson, applied 25 Aug 1896. She was from East Bend, Yadkin Co. Her application is unreadable, but I believe she was Martha Smitherman, daughter of Sarah Truelove & Abner Smitherman, Sarah was a daughter of Patsy & Austin Truelove.
Mattie's brother James A. Smitherman, also of East Bend, applied Aug 26, 1896.

Martha M. Joyner, daughter of John G. [?J.] Trulove, son of Martha & Austin Truelove, applied to the Dawes Commission, 22 Aug 1896, along with over 130 other descendants of Bettie Pledge Poindexter, for Cherokee enrollment. All were rejected for lack of proof. Most of the applicant still lived in North Carolina.
Martha also applied for her children, Leota, Gracie, Bessie and Mosell.
I found the family in East Bend, Yadkin Co NC in 1900:

J. T. Truelove [signed as John Thomas] stated he was a son of John "G" Trulove, son of Martha and Austin Truelove, when he applied to the Dawes Commission, 24 Aug 1896. He listed his children as Eugene, Rufus, Walter, and Richard.

Robert E. Truelove, applied 25 Aug 1896, as a son of John G. and F. A. Trulove, John being a son of Austin & Martha Truelove, Martha a daughter of Jack Poindexter. He had children John C., Josephine, and Lora A.
I never found this family in the 1900 census.

Virginia Martin was a daughter of John G. Trulove, a son of Martha Poindexter & Arthur Trulove. Martha was a daughter of Jack Poindexter. Children are Luther, Mattie, John, Will, Eugene, Bessie & Eunice.

W. A. Martin, son of Bennett & Mildred Martin applied 24 Aug 1896. Mildred was a daughter of Austin & Martha Truelove, Martha being a daughter of Jack Poindexter. He has children, Bessie, Alice, Myrtle, & Elsie Martin.
Note: I believe "Mildred" was actually Martha Truelove. Bennett Martin was killed at Jericho Mills in the Civil War; no children are listed and it's likely this man, Wesley Alexander Martin, b. 19 May 1862, was their only child. Wesley married Flora Ann Poindexter, daughter of John A. & Paulina Poindexter. John A. was a son of Thomas H. who was a son of William Pledge Poindexter.

In 1860, Bennett Martin should be in the census with his wife. I found in Yadkin Co, Hh 687
Bennet Martin, age 26. P. Milena, age 26 [female] She is the right age, but can this be Martha Truelove?
I could not find Wesley in 1870 or 1880, Flora was still with her parents in 1880. Did his mother also die at a young age which was why he was confused about her name, or did she remarry, and he's either being raised by a different family or under a stepfather's name?
Flora Poindexter Martin also applied under her own name to the Dawes Commission.
