One of the executors of the will of John Cosby was Cleavers Duke. John Cosby also made bequests to grandsons Cosby Duke and James Duke. Some have given this daughter the given name Amy.

The book, Henry Duke, Councilor. His Descendants and Connections.; Comprising Partial Records of Many Allied Families, by Walter Garland Duke, The Dietz Press, Inc., Richmond VA, 1949, describes the Descendants of John Cosby & Martha Garland, p.315-316.
Lists as the 5th child, Amy Cosby, b. 1718, married abou 1737 Cleavars Chisholm Duke of Louisa Co VA. Duke was a grandson of Col. Henry Duke of James City Co, VA, a member of the Royal Council at Williamsburg under appointment of Queen Anne, of England, in 1702, which office he held until his death in 1714.
p.86-87 of this same book deals with Clevears Duke and Ann and their children. There is considerable disagreement over the wives of Duke - he married several times after the death of Ann. He possibly married Ann Overton Pettus, daughter of Dabney Pettus and Ann Overton who had first married an Eggleston. Dates of the death of Ann Cosby and marriage to Ann Pettus are not available and the children have been assigned in various ways, some note possible. It is certain that Chevears Duke married 12 Oct 1770 to Lucy Smith; 13 Oct 1778 to Elizabeth Barbour Johnson, daughter of William Johnson, and again 7 Apr 1783 to Mary Wash, daughter of William Wash, who was a young girl. No children by these last three wives. His will was probated in Louisa Co, 14 Feb 1785. His young widow received a large part of his personal effects and a life interest in real estate he had not disposed of in his lifetime. The widow married 12 May 1785, Joseph Eggleston and she died about 1834. The will named 19 children.
Children with approximate birth years: John, 1738; James, 1740; Thomas, 1742; Cosby, 1745; Amediah, 1747; Jane, died young and not in Cheavers Duke's will; probably a daughter Dorothy who married an Orum; Elizabeth, b. about 1753, married George Lumsden; Cleavars Jr., b. 1755. There could have others and except for the first five, may not be in order of their births.
