Ann was the daughter of John Cosby and Martha Garland.

In John's will, he specified that 1800 acres in Louisa Co, part of a tract of 3,000 acres, was to be equally divided between grandsons Charles Dickenson and Higgason Dickenson, sons of Griffin Dickenson.

John Cosby of Louisa Co, VA left a will dated 12 Sep 1760, proved 26 May 1761. First married about 1710 to Martha Garland, daughter of Edward. Married second, 1750, Ann (Meriwether) Johnson, widow of Thomas Johnson. No issue of the last marriage.
John and Martha had issue to include:
Ann, b. 1720, married Griffith Dickerson, son of Nathaniel. Names only one daughter, Anne who married Capt Robert Reade Tompkins.
