Mary Elizabeth Adams was the daughter of John A. Adams and Sidney Elizabeth McCrary of Howard Co., Missouri.
She was raised by her aunt, her mother's sister, Betsy Cummings. Mary's father died in Johnson Co, MO in August of 1842; her mother died before 1845.
