There was a patent to Isaac Dodson, 16 Mar 1771, 194 acres in Halifax Co. This would seem to indicate Joshua was the heir-at-law of Isaac - his son but not necessarily his only son. The other Joshua Dodson whose deeds are found in Pittsyvlania records did not have land on the Sandy River.
