Fatal Arkansas Duel
Van Buren, Ark., Aug. 20. Word has just been received here from Uniontown, a small inland trading point 20 miles distant, of a fatal pistol duel at that point Friday evening between Henry Truitt and Morton Mills, resulting in the death of the latter and wounding of the former. Bad blood had existed between the two men since Truitt's marriage two years ago. Friday afternoon they met in a country road, and each drew a gun and opened fire, Mills falling, shot through the heart. Truitt was able to mount his horse and fled toward the Indian Territory.

A Tragic History
Friday afternoon Deputy Marshal Bean came in from Uniontown, Crawford County with Omer Mills ages 18 and Charles Comstock aged 18, two boys charged with having robbed the post office at the place named. The boys effected an entrance by means of a window and for their pains they secured $2.14 which they divided. Judge Falconer as commissioner bound the boys over to the grand jury. Mills is an orphan, his father having met a tragic death some months ago. The elder Mills was suspected of having alienated the affections of the wife of a man at Uniontown. The husband sent word in the name of his wife, asking a meeting. Mills responded and when he reached the trysting place, Mills was shot and killed. His slayer committed suicide as the result of remorse it is said. The Woman in the case is reported to be living in Fort Smith.
