Jane Dale

There are receipts signed 25 Jan 1833 from Isabella, Sally and Jane Dale stating that they had received the whole of their share from the estate of Samuel Dale, from their brother Alexander. Also, their mother signed a receipt on the same day, that she had received her dower claim of one third from her son Alexander Dale, the administrator of her husband Samuel Dale, deceased. So she was still living in 1833; her handwriting was very clear if a little shaky.

Later, when John Ruff sued Alexander Dale for the money owed to him by Jane's sister Nancy and her husband James McCarty, Jane attempted to ask the court for additional shares. The Chancery Case, 1839, revealed that Jane had received a horse from her father prior to his death and had not returned the horse or it's value for accounting. She had bought items to the sale for which she was given credit for part of her share. She had also signed the above receipt. The court decided she was not entitled to any additional money.

In 1860, Isabella Lawson & Thomas Dale were both living with Isabella Dale, Jane's sister who is now apparently deceased.
