The father of Robert is questionable. His mother Lucinda's sister Elizabeth left him a legacy calling him Robert "Leppard". The 1850 census lists him as Robert A. Strange. The guardianship records of Lucinda's Brown children include Robert - calling him both Robert A. Brown and Robert A. Strange. One of the records of the settlement of the estate of Littleton Brown lists only Sarah Ann, Charles & Jane as his children. The birth year of Robert suggests he was born after the death of Charles Lippard and before Lucinda married Littleton Brown.
