Raymond is said to have married a Mildred Bailey so this is apparently the right man - he was born 1903 and Alonzo married Rachel Howell in 1901 and he died in 1905, so this is possible.

In 1920 - Rachel Roberts, widow was living next door to Raymond & Mildred. Even thought Alonzo's children seemed to think he was born in Georgia - his father had moved to Louisiana in time for the 1870 census and before Alonzo was born.

Hi Kay,
My name is Desiree Brugman and my great grandfather is Alonzo S Haden. I heard about the research of the Haden family through a distant cousin who gave me your link to your Haden Genealogy page. My family never really knew a lot about Alonzo except what bits were passed down through the family. I'm trying to determine if we are in fact related to your Anthony Haden. Here is what I can tell you about our Alonzo. According to the family and a few records I've been able to track down, he was born in Abbeville, Vermillion Parish or Caddo Parish around 1869 or a little later. He married Maggie Dewitt in Desoto Parish on September 9,1893. I did manage to find confirmation of that on Ancestry through the Louisiana Marriages 1718-1925. Maggie and Alonzo had 3 children. Sidney, who was born in June of 1895, Arthur, who was born June 6, 1898, and Maggie Marie, who was born March 10, 1900 in Maurice, Vermillion Parish. I believe Arthur and Sidney were also born in Maurice. Alonzo died August 17,1903 in Kaplan, Louisiana. He was stabbed in a fight after a card game and was buried in the Old Masonic Cemetery in Abbeville, Louisiana. Alonzo was a rice farmer and had a farm in Cossinade, Louisiana. I managed to find a story written about him that's in a book titled The History of Kaplan written by Donella Hargrave, called Kaplans First Homicide. I have a newspaper article to document when he died as his murder made the local paper, The Meridional. His wife Maggie Dewitt died sometime after Maggie Marie was born in 1900. He went on to marry two Howell sisters. He first married Lessie Howell on Aug.15, 1900. She died after a short illness not long after near Leroy, Louisiana. Then he married her sister, Rachel Howell on Oct.17,1901. He went on to have 2 children with Rachel before he died, Raymond and Ora Belle. We were told that his son Sidney passed away sometime in 1902. I haven't been able to find out any more information on where or how he died or where he's possibly buried. While I was doing my family tree on Ancestry trying to find Alonzo's parents, the names Henderson Wilson Haden and Mary Elizabeth Woolworth kept showing up in other trees as being his parents. So I'm trying to figure out if I've really found his parents and his family or am I still at a dead end.
Hope that wasn't too rambling and clearer than mud. Any information or help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
