Found in WorldConnect File. John Haden Lane married Lucinda B. Shepherd on 14 Apr 1831 in Fluvanna Co VA. Children said to have been William George Lane born ca 1833, John Haden Lane Jr. born 15 May 1835, and Virginia H. Lane. If they were married in April of 1831 and he died four years later, the youngest may have been born after his death.

The 1850 Census of Fluvanna does have Lucinda "Layne". She was age 46 and living with her was William, age 18. Perhaps he was the only child to survive.
