Spotsylvania Co Records:
13 Dec 1730. George Proctor of St. George's Parish, Spotsylvania Co sold to Chas. Burges of Lancaster Co, Merchant, 1000 acres in Spotsylvania as by Patent 28 Sep 1728.

George Procter said to have died 23 Mar 1730/31 [may instead be the date of his will]. Will probated 7 Aug 1738. Witnesses inclued G. Home. Names his wife Mary, who got the manor plantation, son-in-law Charles Steward. Son George. Son John, half the land his lives on when his mother dies. Daughter Margaret [who seems to have married Elias Sharp and then Aaron Grigsby, daughter Mary [wife of Charles Stewart], Elizabeth [wife of George Hume/Home]

The elder George Proctor in Spotsylvania had two sons - a George and a John. In 1737, George the younger gave his residence as King George Co in a Spotsylvania deed. John remained in Spotsylvania Co and a son John "Junr" is named in a deed there in 1742. There are numerous Proctors present after that date to include a Thomas who purchased land in 1775 - too early to be the Thomas who was later in Logan Co KY. There is a Charles who signed several of the legal documents of the Haydon family and is likely the same as the one who left a will in Spotsylvania in the mid 1780's - he mentioned a William Proctor, son of a Thomas Proctor, but gave no relationship. A guardian record lists Ann, William, Charles, and Thomas as orphans of Charles Proctor, at least one of whom was born after the father died. Most of the Proctors in the above records, were older than the children of the Bible record who are apparently the children of George the younger - they would be more likely children of John, or even perhaps cousins. The marriage of the elder George Hume to Elizabeth Proctor in 1727 states that she was a daughter of George Proctor and his wife Mary.

2 Mar 1735 George Home and Elizabeth his wife sold 200 acres, a tract conveyed by deed of Gift from George Proctor, dec'd on 3 Jul 1728.

2 Aug 1737 George Proctor, at this time of the Co of King George, to John Proctor and Elias Sharpe, the parcel whereon my father George Proctor did dwell at the time of his death. 436 acres on Hassel Run, residue and remainder undisposed of by my father and by myself since his death, 1500 acres purchased of Wm. Strother. Said 436 acres designed by my father to be given to his son John Proctor, and daughter Margaret Proctor, wife of Elias Sharpe.

2 Mar 1757 Aaron Grigsby of King Geo Co and Margaret his wife, John Proctor of Spotsylvania Co and Sarah his wife, to John Mitchell of Fredksbg. Land devised by the will of George Proctor, dec'd, to his daughter Margaret now the wife of Aaron Grigsby and to John Proctor, son and heir at law of the sd George.

2 May 1758 Mary Steward gave to her sons, Benjamin and William, 200 acres, land her by her father, George Procter, 2 Nov 1725.

3 Jun 1765 George Sharp & Mary his wife to Thomas ?James of Fredksbg, 150 acres, part of a tract devised by George Proctor, dec'd to his daughter Margaret, who intermarried with Elias Sharp, dec'd, father of the sd. George Sharp who is the eldest son and heir at law of said Elias, who died intestate.

And here's a Mary Proctor
Spotsylvania Co VA Records
19 May 1766 Will of William Ellis, probate 4 Aug 1766. Wife was Elizabeth, sons Hezekiah and William. Col. Joseph Brock mentioned. Legacy to daughter Mary Proctor. Daughter Elizabeth Hawkins; daughter Ann O'Neal, son John, daughter Agnes Ellis. If his wife dies before his son reaches 20, he desires that Robert O'Neal take his estate into his possession.
[This was probably a thirty-ish Mary - it isn't likely the daughter of this George who had died by 1731. Mary, the daughter of George Jr. was born circa 1770 so it certainly isn't her.]

George Proctor's land in Spotsylvania Co became part of, or bordered on, Orange Co when that Co was formed in 1734 - here is a deed giving the name of neighbor Edward Price and two Virginia land patents which cite this location:
3 Apr 1727: George Proctor of St. George Parish, Spotsylvania Co to Edward Price of the same for 3000 #'s of tobacco, 100 acres on Hasell Run. Witnesses: G. Home/Hume, John Skinner. Rec. 2 May 1727
VA Patent Book 15, p.485. 13 May 1735 Robert Martin received a grant for 1000 acres beginning corner to George Proctor and Edward Price on south side of a mountain at the head of the south branch of the North River. Located in Spotsylvania Co.
VA Patent Book 20, p.274 15 Jun 1742 Francis Thornton Jr & Hancock Lee rec'd grant for 1000 acres [same location as above and was in fact the same property] Located in Orange Co.
