"Three of the children of William Stamps were "rec'd into care" of the Broad Run Baptist Church on 14 Apr 1765, Ann, William & John." I've seen this statement repeatedly but transcripts of the Broad Run Baptist Church minutes do not have the infant William Stamps at all, and Ann is not listed as his daughter. On April 14th 1765, the following infants was received into the care of the church: John Stamps, son of Wm. Stamps. Ann Stamp, daughter of John Stamps. And on May 19th, 1769, Molly Stamps, daughter of Wm. Stamps was received into the care of the church.

There is a marriage, 13 Oct 1772, in Fauquier Co for a Nancy Stamps to Robert Layton. It's likely that this was the widow of William Stamps, not his daughter. However, unless dates are wrong, and children of the Laytons are wrong - William Stamps widow was too old to have borne some of the children and the daughter Ann was too young to marry in 1772.

I believe it is doubtful that William had a daughter, Ann.
