22 Apr 1616 Edmond Wathen, son of George Wathen, of Bristol, joiner, apprenticed to John Fayland, of Bristol, joiner, and to Elizabeth his wife, for the term of seven years.
Edward Wathen was admitted a burgess in Bristol in 1626 and the record specifically states he had been the apprentice of John Fayland.

Thomas Wathen resided in Gloucester, MA, but returned to England. He died while in the service of Prince Rupert in the English Civil War, leaving a small estate in Massachusetts on which administration was granted William Sargent on 28 Sep 1652. Two witnesses testified concerning Thomas's nearest of kin in New England. Zebulon Hill, formerly of Bristol, England, testified that Thomas Wathen was a son of Edmond Wathen and cousin to William Sargent, Sargent said to be son of Edmond Wathen's sister. Deborah Joy, aged 27, wife of Walter Joy, deposed that Thomas was a cousin of William Sargent and there was none nearer of kin in this country. She further stated that she was "alike related". Deborah's brother Ezekiel, succeeded to administration of Thomas Wathen's estate 24 Nov 1657.
