In the 1840 Census, Russell Co, AL is a Richard Richardson - the only man of that name found in Alabama that year. He was age 40-50 with several children - not this man. His wife was said to be Martha and had a daughter named Pocahontas. I looked for Martha in Alabama in 1850, but could not find anyone who seemed right.
