He retired in 1975 from the Department of Public Safety after 37 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Stroud of Austin; daughters, Martha Rivers & husband Marvin of Austin, Phyllis Godbey and husband Hank of Spring, Texas; granddaughter, Stephanie Rivers Lowe of Austin; grandsons, Wayne Rivers of San Antonio, Tim Rainwater and wife, Lisa of Spring, Sohn Rainwater & wife sharon of San Antonio, and Christopher Godbey of Spring, two great-grandchildren, Jessica Rainwater & Garrison Rainwater; one brother J. Phyllis Lee Godbey, 78, passed away on Nov 25, 2015 in Spring, TX. She is the widow of Henry Nail Godbey. Born in Lubbock, TX, she was the daughter of E. L. and Mary Stroud. She attended Texas Tech. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for the family and taking care of animals.
She is survived by children, Tim & John Rainwater, Christ Godby & Sharon Porch; grandchildren, Garrison, Jessica, Bryce & Clare Rainwater.
Memorial services & reception to be hel Dec. 7thh at 10 AM at Woodlands Church, Chapel in the Woods.
