Rainwaters Host Rehearsal Dinner
Mr. and Mrs. Champ Rainwater were in Lubbock Friday evening where they were hosts for the rehearsal dinner for their son, Charles Rainwater and Phyllis Lee Stroud. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Stroud of Lubbock. The couple will be married Friday in the First Methodist Church in Lubbock.
The dinner, which 18 attended, was held at the Plainsman Hotel.

Dr. Charles Norman Rainwater died Sept. 10th, 2007 in Houston, Texas.
Charles was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on Jan. 4th 1932 to Champ and Marjorie (Schrader) Rainwater. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1949, and joined the Navy during the Korean War. Following his military service he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University, and subsequently a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Texas.
Charles' passion was helping people, and he dedicated much time and energy to the following organizations: The Big Spring State Hospital, Shriners, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, and St. Mary's Episcopal Church. He will also be remembered for his love of music, especially his participation in the St. Mary's choir, the Texas Tech band, as well as entertaining his family and friends.
He is survived by his sister Julie (Rainwater) Shirey; his four children Charles Timothy Rainwater, John Sanford Rainwater, Katherine Elizabeth Rainwater, and Joseph Harlen Rainwater; his grandchildren Jessica, Garrison, Bryce, and Claire; and his nieces Jennifer Shirey and Brenda Hays.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Big Spring, Texas on Friday Sept. 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17 Chicago, Ill. 60601-7633.
