Jacob moved from Hartford to Harwinton CT in 1736 and the first town meeting was held at his house on 20 Dec 1737. He was the first town clerk and a deacon in the church. He married (1) Abigail Carter on 6 Jun 1724. Abigail Carter was first admitted to Full Communion of First Church of Hartford on 28 Apr 1717. Abigail died 27 Sep 1727. Jacob married (2) Elizabeth Hinsdale on 1 Apr 1728.
