William married a 3rd time, to Mary Ann Whitworth, 13 Nov 1870, Putnam MO. They had a single son - Jesse, b. 3 Sep 1872. After William died, Mary Ann married Nathan Lay, an older brother of William's first wife - he had many children by his first wife who died prior to 1875.

---William and Lewis Walters (brothers and sons of John Walters, a Virginian) came to Adair County in 1841, from Grainger County, Tennessee. The Walters' settled on the Spring Creek north of Novinger, in Morrow Township. They married sisters, William married Jerusha Lay in 1835 and Lewis married Elizabeth Lay after coming to Missouri. Children of William and Jerusha Walters were: Lewis, Martha J., John, Nancy, Elizabeth, Nellie, Dorah, Jerusha, Amanda M., William, Isaac, and Jesse. Children of Lewis and Elizabeth Walters were: Nathan, William, Martha, John, Joseph, Sarah, Nancy and Nellie.
NOTE: Adair County, Mo. marriage records give the marriage of Lewis Walters (last name spelled Waters in the marriage records) and Elizabeth Lay as being on March 3, 1844 in Book 1, page 23.
