A teacher from Nov. 1881 until March 1893, while teaching he studied surveying and became a Court surveyor a position he held for 8 years. He became an ordained Primitive Baptist minister.
In January 1897 he Founded and Edited the Primitive Baptist Periodical "Messenger of Truth" published in Laurel Fork, Va., Was Assistant Clerk of the New River Primitive Baptist Association.
Franklin Pierce Branscome was known to be a Zealous Advocate of the simplicity of Bible doctrine and for his style of No Jesting and No Foolishness in the pulpit.

Franklin Pierce Branscome (sic) died 5 Jan 1922 at Laurel Fork, Carroll Co, VA of chronic nephritis. He was born 14 Mar 1860 in Carroll Co. He was married, and a minister. Father was John Branscome, born in Carroll Co; his mother, Mary Frances Mabry, born in Floyd Co, VA. Orlena E. Branscome of Laurel Fork was the informant. He was buried Jan 7th, Laurel Fork Cemetery.

He is buried Laurel Fork Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Carroll Co, VA. After his death, the widow married Marshall Price Webb, 1930.
