Elijah Graves the elder -- Will -- written 10 Aug 1855. Children of decd sister Elisabeth Kimbrough $1200 divided among those living; likewise to children of decd brother Thomas Graves $1200; to sister Catherine Howard $1200 if she is living or to her living children. To living children of decd brother William Graves $1200 and the share for Elijah Graves the younger held in trust for use of his wife and children as long as he lives then to go to his children. Living children of decd sister Delilah Miles $1200 equally divided.
Nephew Napoleon Elijah Graves his ½ interest in land near Milton known as Milton Race Tract. To friend Major L. Graves of Georgia $300. Land to be divided by a line from the Milton road to Country Line Creek and that on east side be designated as Country Line tract and the upper side as the Home Tract. The homestead tract to Abisha Slade to be held by him in trust for sole benefit of wife and children of nephew Elijah Graves the younger and then to go to his heirs. The lower tract of land to be sold.
Nephew Robert W. Graves $300; negro boy Felix held by Abisha Slade for use of family of Elijah Graves. To living children of decd sister Nancy Yancey $1200, however the share for Virginia Swepson wife of George Swepson to be held by Giles Mebane in trust for sole use of Virginia and if she has no heirs it to go to her sisters along with her share of slaves. All slaves divided among children now living in Caswell Co. of his brothers and sisters and children outside of Caswell Co. to be made equal if money available. Share of slaves for Elijah Graves, Jr. to be kept in trust, also the mill on the Creek, and then to go to his wife and children.
Rest of effects and estate to go to 4 youngest daughters of decd brother William Graves namely Isabella Dodson, Fanny Turbeville, Cornelia Turbeville, and Virginia Graves.

County Court to appoint an administrator.
John A. Graves [probably local lawyer John Azariah Graves] was appointed administrator with will annexed, was bonded for $75,000 and qualified.

He is buried in the Graves Family Cemetery on his land, along with his brothers Azariah, Barzillai, and William, and other members of the family.
