Wade Hampton Walters

Wade married Margaret "Peggy" Ables about 1830 in Yazoo Co MS. She was b. 1811 in South Carolina and d. 1872 in Canton, VanZandt Co TX They are buried in the Walters Cemetery, Canton, in VanZandt Co TX. This cemetery is also called the Mayberry Cemetery.

Wade served as a member of Capt Cosley's Co of Texas Rangers in 1836. He appears on the 1837 tax list in Nacogdoches Co TX along with other members of his family.

In 1850, Wade and wife Margaret appear in the Census for Cherokee Coutny TX. W. H. Walters, age 41, b. GA. Margaret age 39, b. AL. Children born in Mississippi were Wm. B. age 19, Mahala 17, Elizabeth 15. Children born in Texas were Lycurgus 13, Emily 11, Wade H. 9, Martha 6, Ezekiel A. 4 and Charles M. age 2. A daughter, Margaret Elizabeth, was born after this census.

Administration of his estate is filed in Book I, 1876-1909 T-X, in the Probate Records of VanZandt Co TX.
